AQUATICS:

The Leisure Services Department offers a wide range of aquatic and first aid programs at the Arts and Recreation Centre. Our qualified water safety and first aid instructors provide instruction to all ages and abilities. Private lessons are available for those seeking individualized swim instruction. Specialized instruction is also available in various water sports and activities including synchronized swimming, canoeing and kayaking, and scuba diving. The Centre also provides leadership training to those interested in becoming certified lifesavers, lifeguards and water safety instructors.

There's no need to look at a schedule. You can drop-in and swim anytime throughout the day. One lane is always kept open for length swimmers. You are also welcome to jump into one of our many water aerobics classes including the popular Aqua-Boxing program. The pool is an ideal place to hold a birthday party and the Leisure Services Department offers special birthday party packages.

ARTS:

The Leisure Services Department offers a wide range of performing, visual, and applied arts programs through the Arts and Recreation Centre.

These include classes in painting and drawing, pottery and crafts. Programs are available year round and are offered to a wide range of age groups.

FITNESS AND RECREATION

The Leisure Services Department offers a wide range of fitness and general recreation programs at the Arts and Recreation Centre and other facilities. Qualified weight room instructors are available to design fitness programs for those just starting out as well as those looking to advance their current fitness program. Whether you are interested in losing weight, strength training, body sculpting, or rehabilitation following injury, our instructors can design a program specific to your needs. The Department also offers a variety of aerobics classes and circuit training programs.

A wide range of general recreation programs for all ages are offered throughout the year. Recreation programs offered include children's day camps during the summer and spring breaks, adult gym programs, children's cooking programs and preschool skating lessons.

PLAYSCHOOL

The Leisure Services Department offers a popular playschool program at the Arts and Recreation Centre. This recreation program for preschool age children allows children two to five years of age to interact with their peers, improve coordination, gain self confidence, build self esteem, enhance creativity and develop a positive self image and sense of security.

PUBLIC SKATING

The Leisure Services Department offers a variety of public skating and drop-in hockey sessions at the Twin Arenas during the regular ice season. The Leisure Patch ice surface is available from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday to Friday and 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on the weekend. The Twin Arenas also offers Tiny Tot Drop-In Hockey, Noon Hour Adult Skate, Junior Drop-In Hockey, Shinny Hockey and Public Skating.

The Twin Arenas is a great place to hold a birthday party. The Leisure Services Department offers a special package for skating parties.

The Twin Arenas are host to numerous spectator events throughout the year, including Jr. A Hockey home games, hockey tournaments, figure skating carnivals and competitions and other special events. The Twin Arenas is the site of many community events in the spring and summer, including Central Registration and the Humongous Garage Sale.
