Proclamations

How proclamations are made

The City regularly receives requests for proclamations from non-profit groups who wish to raise awareness of an upcoming event or national/provincial “day” they wish to celebrate at a local level.

To get a request on the Council agenda, a local group sends a letter to Council on its association letterhead (with return address and day telephone contact number) requesting a certain Day or Week be proclaimed in the City of Quesnel.  This should be delivered to the Deputy Corporate Administrator's office one month prior to the date.  It will be placed on a future agenda and Council may resolve at such meeting to proclaim this.

Organizations may contact the Council Assistant, Lynn Mamic, at City Hall to arrange for the preparation of a proclamation which could be presented by the Mayor at an event or during a photo session at City Hall or elsewhere, to which the requester may organize media coverage.
