Overview
The Airport was opened in 1942 by Transport Canada. In 1968 the first air terminal building was constructed to accommodate commercial airlines that began serving Quesnel shortly thereafter. By the late 1980s, the increasing levels of air travel and general airport activity had outgrown the original terminal and a new building was required. An impressive new terminal fashioned in a Classic Cariboo style opened in 1993.
On April 1, 1997, ownership and operation of the Airport was transferred from Transport Canada to the City of Quesnel. As a major City department, the Airport continues to be an important gateway to Quesnel and the surrounding area. The airport's close proximity to the city centre makes it an ideal spot for light industrial and manufacturing operations. The Airport Manager is available during regular business hours to answer general inquiries and to provide information on leasing, licensing and fee schedules. Contact the Airport Manager at (250) 992-2208 or via email.
